Evangelos Sakaris is an installation artist of Greek descent. Since the 1990’s he has developed a diverse practice that includes painting and public art.
In the last decade Sakaris has integrated his ongoing concern for the materiality of artworks with the philosophical implications of object oriented ontology. He completed a PhD at the VCA in 2013.
He has held numerous exhibitions in galleries including ACCA, the NGV, RMIT Gallery, IMA and Artspace Sydney. His public art projects in Victoria include ‘Word and Way’ in Heffernan lane; ‘I, Kananook’ in the Kananook Creek; and the ‘Tribute Garden’ at the Immigration Museum.
